What We Teach
What We Teach
Our Hebrew School program offers a diverse curriculum covering:
Holidays & Traditions
Jewish holidays mark significant historical, religious, and cultural moments in our history. At Hebrew School, we teach children the meaning and traditions behind each holiday through hands-on activities, storytelling, crafts, and celebrations. From lighting the menorah on Hanukkah to experiencing the joy of a Passover Seder, our students actively study and participate in Jewish customs, making their learning experience immersive and memorable.
Jewish Values
Judaism is built on ethical and moral principles that guide our daily lives. We help children understand and apply these values—such as chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity), tikkun olam (repairing the world), and derech eretz (respect for others). Through discussions, role-playing, and real-life examples, we encourage students to embody these values in their interactions with family, friends, and the broader community.
Bible Stories
The Torah is the foundation of Jewish learning, and its stories teach us timeless lessons. Our curriculum introduces students to key biblical figures such as Abraham and Sarah, Moses, David and Goliath, Queen Esther, and many more. Through storytelling, discussions, and creative projects, we bring these ancient narratives to life, helping students see their relevance in today’s world.
Hebrew Language
Learning Hebrew strengthens a child’s connection to Jewish prayer, texts, and Israeli culture. Our language program is interactive and age-appropriate, incorporating games, songs, and conversational practice to make learning enjoyable. Younger students begin with letters and basic vocabulary, while older students advance to reading, writing, and understanding prayers and modern Hebrew phrases.
Israeli Culture
Israel is a vibrant and diverse country with a rich cultural heritage. Our students explore Israeli music, dance, art, food, and traditions to develop a deeper appreciation for their homeland. Whether it’s learning an Israeli folk dance, tasting falafel and sufganiyot, or creating artwork inspired by Jerusalem, our lessons make Israel come alive in the classroom.
Modern History of Israel
Understanding Israel’s history is key to developing a strong Jewish identity. Our students learn about the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, key historical figures such as David Ben-Gurion and Golda Meir, and major events that shaped the country. We also explore Israel’s achievements in science, technology, and humanitarian efforts, reinforcing a sense of pride and connection to our Jewish homeland.
